A complement to our stage play with the same name, the film of SUPPLIANTS OF SYRIA intertwines theatre and testimony. Based on Aeschylus' SUPPLIANTS, one of the oldest plays in existence, it rereads the classic text in the light of contemporary forced migrations, focussing on the experience of Syrian refugee women.

The film was born through workshops in Adana, in the south of Turkey, where the director listened to the women's direct testimonies about life in Syria, the outbreak of war, the violence of ISIS, the dangerous journeys towards security and the difficulties of the present. This material combines with the Choruses from SUPPLIANTS and a pertinent questioning of the process itself.

A work that connects past and present, classic text and contemporary reality, offering a reflection on forced migrations, war and future possibilities.

Streaming as part of Refugee Week. The film is in Arabic, English and Turkish, with subtitles in all three languages.
