Border Crossings is always keen to explore new avenues and outlets for its work.
We are currently under commission from Alexandra Palace to create a new performance piece based on workshops with diverse communities in our local North London area. The play, to be presented in the beautiful old Alexandra Palace theatre in 2018, will be based on the amazing stories of soldiers from "the Empire" who came from all over the world to the Palace in 1901 for the coronation of Edward VII. Today, people who trace their heritage to those soldiers are living right next to the Palace where so many extraordinary cross-cultural encounters took place.
Our recent partnerships with Museums (British Museum, Royal Maritime Museum) have proved friendly and fruitful; and we're becoming ever more interested in the use of non-theatre spaces to present performance work. An historic building, an open-air space, a school, a hospital, a prison... We are open to the conversation!
